Multidisciplinary Meeting endorsed by ERA-EDTA

Under the Presidence of Dr Gérard London & Pr Roland Bugat

Wednesday 23 November 2011 – Paris, France

On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committees «Kidney & Cancer 2011», we are pleased to announce the organization of 2nd symposium «Cancer & End Stade Renal Disease». This symposium will be held in November 23, 2011 in Paris.

The symposium is endorsed by ERA EDTA. Dr Gérard London, last president of ERA EDTA, will co-chair the symposium with Pr Roland Bugat.

The classic narrow view “Cancer causing End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)” includes myeloma,  nephrectomy for kidney cancer, chemotherapy nephrotoxicity, bone marrow transplant nephrotoxicity, paraneoplastic glomerulonephritis (GN)….

Recent and current outcomes linking Cancer and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) emphasize the need to define a broader view considering that cancer and its treatment in subjects with CKD is largely unstudied: Cancer drug trials exclude CKD patients, some CKD subjects progress to ESRD because of cancer and it treatment, some cancers are increased in ESRD, and probably also in CKD (Kidney cancer (Stewart JH, et al. JASN 14:197, 2003), Bladder cancer, Medullarycancer of thyroid…).Looking forward to meeting you in lovely Paris in November.

Dr Gérard London - Last President of ERA EDTA

Pr Roland Bugat - First President of “Cancer Bio Santé”
